James Aston is the Director responsible for founding Archer Mathieson’s Human Resources practice. With a recruitment career of more than 12 years across a variety of sectors, his experience spans retained senior level marketing, sales, finance, and HR assignments. Having previously worked in South Africa for Coca Cola, James returned to the UK in 1998. James holds an MSc in Aquaculture, and a BSc in Marine Biology from Bangor University.

Bill is always interested in engaging with HR professionals, be they potential clients or candidates. This approach has helped him develop a strong network in the HR community and an excellent reputation for integrity, pragmatism and ability to spot strong talent. Bill has great experience of the HR sector having spent 8 years in the function for a leading technology company before moving into the recruitment industry in 1996 where he worked on senior level business roles in the technology sector. Prior to joining us at Archer Mathieson he worked with Digby Morgan for 5 years helping companies find senior HR professionals, in the UK and internationally. Bill originates from the Edinburgh area and he graduated with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot Watt University before pursuing an early career in Production Management. Away from work, he has always had a keen interest in sport and despite being less active these days he has recently developed a passion for road cycling.

Chris joined the business in October 2010 and brings deep understanding of the recruitment industry. Having started his career in sales he has spent the majority of his career with two of the leading sales and marketing recruitment businesses, covering B2B, FMCG and technology sectors.
Chris now has 10+ years of broad executive search experience. His focus with Archer Mathieson is on senior HR opportunities across all sectors. In addition to his search experience, Chris has developed extensive knowledge in all areas relating to the development of talent and the human resources function. Chris is Assoc. CIPD.

Gordon Whyte joined the team in April 2011 to lead Archer Mathieson’s interim HR practice. His focus is to continue to build our traditional Thames Valley client base, whilst also establishing our London office. With over 16 years’ experience in the recruitment industry, Gordon has exposure across a range of sectors and functional areas. After graduating Gordon completed his CIPD and worked within commercial finance recruitment in London and Sydney. Whilst in Australia he worked for 10 years within a large recruitment group, running a range of teams and establishing their HR recruitment business. Most recently he worked within the senior HR interim team at Digby Morgan. Gordon works across both our Windsor and London offices.

Amanda joined Archer Mathieson in 2007. She focuses on the Commerce and Industry sectors within the Thames Valley. Overall Amanda has 10 years recruitment industry experience across a variety of sectors and disciplines. Amanda graduated from Southampton University with a BA Hons in Business and Sport.

Kerryn Hooper joined our Interim HR team at Archer Mathieson in 2011 and focuses on providing qualified senior interims to clients across the UK. Prior to joining us, Kerryn was Managing Consultant with Digby Morgan; recruiting interim HR practitioners to the mid-market, leading a team of five. Before relocating to the UK, Kerryn worked in Brisbane and Sydney across several industry sectors, with a focus on both HR and Accounting & Finance. Kerryn holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and is a qualified CPA.

Lucy specialises in the provision of interim professionals across the HR discipline and believes in providing strong customer service to candidates and clients. Graduating with a BA Hons in Fashion Promotion, Lucy utilised her strengths from previous PR roles building and developing long term relationships within the HR discipline. Prior to joining Archer Mathieson, she recruited temporary and Interim HR professionals for Michael Page across the Thames Valley and Southern Home Counties for 4 years.
