Procurement Director

A highly acquisitive VC backed food manufacturing business required a permanent procurement Director to develop a group purchasing strategy.

Primary Purpose:

To effectively manage the procurement of food and non-food items for key product sectors to ensure the sustainable supply of low cost, best quality products to business units within the group, whilst maximising supply chain opportunities and achieving budgeted savings targets.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop a procurement supply strategy that delivers the lowest cost, best quality and sustainable raw material supply in the food to go industry
  • Establish a partner approach with key suppliers
  • Consolidate procurement spend by channel/category to maximise better terms on behalf of the group and deliver strategic targets
  • Establish a robust process of raw material price forecasting for key categories
  • Providing timely reporting to ensure gross margin protection

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent with significant commercial procurement experienced gained from a fast paced food FMCG business. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills will be essential to engage cross functionally with the supply base.

  • Track record of successfully developing and delivering strategic initiatives that have generated strong results in demanding and complex environments.
  • Strong leadership skills, particularly through transformation and business change, with the ability to motivate and inspire.
  • Highly developed negotiating and influencing skills, able to affect commercial decisions and set contract terms with suppliers.
